Beloit College, BTC form student housing partnership

JANESVILLE — Blackhawk Technical College students may reside at Beloit College’s Peet Hall starting in August thanks to a new partnership between the two institutions.
Blackhawk and Beloit College announced the new partnership Tuesday. Peet Hall is a residential hall on Beloit College’s campus. Blackhawk students will have access to fitness facilities and meal plan options. Blackhawk will also provide complimentary shuttle service between campuses.
“Providing a living space for our students has been a goal of ours for some time. Residential life is a key part of the overall college experience, and we are grateful for Beloit College’s partnership in helping us realize this vision,” Blackhawk President Tracy Pierner said in a statement.
According to the statement, the new housing option is part of the college’s goal to provide students with a “more comprehensive and traditional college experience,” and it coincides with the recent launch of the athletic program.
Residence hall living is offered at six of the 16 colleges within the Wisconsin Technical College System.
Beloit College President Eric Boynton said the housing agreement reflects the college’s wish to continue building partnerships with organizations and industries in the region.
“We are especially excited about our partnerships with Blackhawk because they reflect our shared commitment to providing students with exceptional opportunities for academic and personal development,” Boynton said.
The colleges have partnerships in emergency medical technician and certified nursing assistant certifications for Beloit students.
“These partnerships help prepare possible pathways for bachelor’s degree completion for Blackhawk students in health science careers who are seeking to transfer into a four-year degree-institution,” Boynton said.
Housing will cost $3,181 for students, according to the Blackhawk website. Meal plan costs will vary. The health and wellness fee is $242. The student activity fee is $280. A housing inquiry form is available at https://blackhawk.edu/housing.
