Our minor league baseball team is named after sky carp, which is local slang for the Canadian geese that hang around in Wisconsin despite the freezing temps. Even cooler? The Beloit Sky Carp plays at ABC Supply Stadium, located just a smidge from the state line. So, if a right-handed batter cranks a foul ball deep over the first-base line and crosses Shirland Avenue, it could land in the state of Illinois.
