TOWN OF BELOIT — Area residents were able to amble through the halls and get a first look at the new Town Hall and Fire Station 2 in the Town of Beloit Thursday.

Spacious rooms and shiny countertops and new equipment greeted visitors as they made their way through the new facility, which has a pricetag of about $9.8 million.

“When you look at where we came from with our old facility on Afton Road. It’s so much more efficient. It’s bigger and brighter,” said Town Board Chair Diane Greenlee. “Our staff deserves a facility like this.”

Much of the township staff, including the Town Board, have been operating out of Fire Station 1 since 2019. Town officials left their former Town Hall on Afton Road due to the deteriorating condition of the building.

In 2022, the township received $7.68 million from the Wisconsin Department of Administration, which was earmarked for the construction of a new Fire Station 2. Fire Station 2 was demolished entirely, except for the basement. On that site, the new Fire Station 2 and the new Town Hall were constructed. Capital funds in the township budget were used for the Town Hall portion of the building.

Frederick Quinn Corp. was the general contractor for the project and Williams Architect was the architect firm on the project. Construction began in July of 2024.

Mark Bushhouse of Williams Architects, was standing in the fire station portion of the building Thursday, admiring the new three-bay apparatus facility.

“I’ve been doing fire stations for 34 years,” Bushhouse said. “I love working with the heroes at fire departments.”

He said it was great to see the ideas that were drawn out on blueprints become a new home for firefighters.

Deputy Fire Chief Brian Snyder said the Town of Beloit has enough equipment to fill the new fire station. He said there would be a minimum of one fire engine and one ambulance at the new fire station each day.

Staff for the new town hall are expected to move in by mid-March.
