BELOIT — Heavy equipment is digging holes and pushing a lot of dirt around off Elmwood Avenue as infrastructure work has begun on Phase II of the Elmwood Commons subdivision.
Next Generation (NG Kadlec Land) is developing the next phase of the Elmwood Commons subdivision, which plans for 45 single-family lots, 11 multi-family lots and one out lot. There were eight homes included in Phase 1 of the Elmwood Commons, which was completed about two years ago, according to Zach Knutson, managing partner of Next Generation.
Last February, city officials announced a “New Market Housing Incentive” offering up to $1 million to help cover infrastructure costs as incentive to spur home building. In March of this year, the city approved a Public Works contract with the developer for water main, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, road extension at the Elmwood Commons site.
Knutson said the primary project the city is working on for the project is the extension of Kadlec Drive, which will connect with Elmwood Avenue.
