Wisconsin recently scored top honors with Site Selector Magazine, landing on its 2025 Top State Business Climate Rankings.

Industry participants were asked to rank each state as “most likely to succeed,” voting for the easiest sell.

Wisconsin ranked 25th, edging out over half the nation.

What mattered most? The affordability, availability and reliability of power dominated the list, a nod to Wisconsin’s ranking as #12 in Power Grid Reliability by U.S. News and World Report as well as being noted as a national leader for grid reliability in a 2026 report by The Western Way.

The other criteria noted in the Site Selector rankings included grading a state’s ability to offer:

  • Pro-business policies including ease of permitting and regulatory procedures
  • Transportation infrastructure
  • Workforce skills
  • Quality of life
  • Land/building prices and supply
  • State and local tax structure
  • Workforce development
  • Higher education resources
  • Economic development strategy
  • Incentives
