You can still patronize our amazing small businesses even though East Grand Avenue between State and Pleasant Streets will remain fully closed to vehicle traffic. With the reconstruction project underway, access to affected businesses can be had via the back entrances or the sidewalk, which will remain open for the majority of the time.

Timing wise, the project is scheduled to be completed in early May (weather permitting), before the first Beloit Farmers Market of 2026, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last year! Also, the sidewalks are anticipated to be completed before the Downtown Beloit Association’s Spring Wine Walk to ensure pedestrian safety.

Small Businesses, Big Impact in Beloit

Shopping local in Beloit has such a positive impact on our community business owners.

Did you know that for every $100 spent at a locally-owned business, a whopping $73 remains in that community vs. $43 that remains when purchasing from a corporate chain? Each of those dollars support Greater Beloit with increased tax revenue, which helps us improve our services and infrastructure while also providing jobs for people. The result? A higher standard of living for everyone to enjoy.

We encourage you to show some extra support for our amazing small businesses who are impacted by the reconstruction project, including:
